Star Wars cake from here.
After earning their very own light sabers, the Jedi-in-training learned defense maneuvers and techniques for battling the Empire from the Master and became certified Jedi Knights. Dawn Ey from MerryB Events created this Jedi Knights and Star Wars birthday bash!
Dawn describes how she made R2D2, "I was doing some research for Hill’s upcoming Star Wars birthday party this week and I ran across an everyday waste basket on clearance that possessed a striking resemblance to R2D2. Naturally, I brought him home and commenced the conversion process. Using hot glue, spray paint that adheres to plastic, duct tape in three colors (blue, silver and white), and random household objects I transformed this plastic cast-off into a key Star Wars character.
Dawn said, "A Storm Trooper cake was ceremoniously defeated to celebrate the rebel victory".
Official Jedi Robe: Each child was awarded a Jedi robe when they entered the rebel ship (house). This fun Star Wars party created by Marie was featured on Makes and Takes. How to make a Jedi Robe - instructions found here.
Pin the Lightsaber on a Jedi – This $5 poster was purchased at a party store and taped to the wall. Little mini paper lightsabers were made for each child. They pick the color and then match it to who it might go to, while wearing a Clone Wars Storm Trooper mask (found at a party store).
Tips From A Mom of 3 describes the invitation, "We made the invites by using a computer program & copy machine. They turned out pretty good! The words were as follows:
Star Wars Episode III Shaped Dinner Plates, 8-Count Packages (Pack of 6)
Caroline Armelle's blog Armelle has some fun creative ideas including this sweet, eclectic nursery for her little baby girl.
My favorite item is the $5 crib picked up at a yard sale. Caroline spent hours priming and spraying yellow paint (13 cans), she also gave it 2 top coats. Tons of work - but she loves the results. This terrific nursery was done on a budget with several items re-purposed. Way to go!
The wall color is Benjamin Moore's Robin's Nest (color 618)

Autumn Clemons created this adorable unique party for her daughters 8th birthday by paying homage to Asia. Autumn describes the party, "I threw a Chinese-themed birthday party for my eight year old daughter. Colors were fuschia, black, gold and chartreuse. Chinese lanterns were hung in a large cluster over the table. Candy-dipped fortune cookies, rice-krispy sushi and a simple adorned cake were some of the party yummies. Gifts bags were asian brocade purses with bamboo handles filled with goodies. A homemade pinata in the shape of a chinese-take out box was filled with candy and fortune cookies." Check out Autumn's blog My Design Dump for more photos and inspiration

Said Autumn, "I used an online translator for the Chinese characters, so I'm hoping it really does say "yummy" and not something crazy like "i like to swim in garbage"

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this - rice krispy "sushi". Sushi made from rice krispy treats, colored licorice and fruit roll-ups.

Palmer Weiss is a San Francsico-based interior designer. The very talented Palmer designed this sweet, elegant girls room. This fabric bed crown sure makes a statement above the bed I'm loving her classic style.
This image is probably from a master bedroom...but wouldn't these fabrics look great in a nursery - especially those drapes. LOVE the drapes! The trim on the drape is great way to add visual interest to a room!

Lego fans you're in for a treat! Anita Roll painted this fun lego themed boys room. The lego room was painted in a model home in Raleigh, N.C. for Beazer Homes. The designer, Dawn Kines, put the headboard together from game pieces. Aren't you impressed with the headboard? Hhhmmmm.... I wonder how difficult that would be to make?
Here's my guess on "How to make a lego headboard."
I'm estimating several hundred legos (depending on the size), some good E6000 glue, a waiting period to dry and a couple of hangers to hang it and you've got yourself an over-the-top fun lego headboard. You don't necessarily have to attach a headboard to the bed - sometimes its easier to hang a headboard!
The colorful bright primary colors are perfect for this lego theme room. Thank you Anita for sharing these room photos with us!

These beautiful headbands make me (almost) want to have another baby : ) Lisa is the talented designer behind Woobie Wear (flower headbands and hats). Lisa describes her headbands, "I began expanding into making flower headbands, but instead of the flower being glued on, I put everything on a clip so it could be removed and interchanged. The clips can be worn alone, on headbands, hats and outfits! Very long-lasting, fun and versatile! Plus, the hats, by adding the adjustable/removable ribbon, can be worn from newborn through age 10!"
There are hundreds of styles to choose from. Woobie Wear is sold in many retail locations. If you would like to purchase Woobie Wear over the internet, go here.

Pure sweetness describes this room designed by Chelsea Gallacher! Says Chelsea: ""My vision for the nursery was something of a hand-me-down idea. I love when you see a store, or a room that is a bunch of beautiful things all put together, different colors, shapes and styles, all somehow meshing to create that "one of a kind" look. I wanted my baby girl's nursery to look sort of cottage-vintage-eclectic with a touch of that shabby chic. I wanted it to feel sweet and soft. But not boring, not only a few colors, or a specific "theme". I really wanted it to be different, interesting. We wanted the room to feel like a mix of beautiful things. I re-did a living area, which is where some of her shelves came from. I just placed them to create a less formal feel. It was also a way to use things I already had.
I made the birds, the name wall hanging also-- all I used was scrapbook paper, paper flowers, ribbon, vintage buttons, a distressing kit, and some table doilies. I also made her name sign with the same items, adding table doilies. I got my many sisters (6) to help make the birds, each of my sisters made a great creative bird... it was like a piece of love from my baby's aunts to add to the room. My goal was not to go out and buy a lot of new things, but to hunt down old things, reuse things I had, and make it all seem to flow."We wanted the room to feel like a mix of beautiful things. The curtain is bark cloth, her bedding is Bella Notte. All miss matched on purpose. I wanted it to feel like hand me down linens, like grandma's old cozy bedding. I hand made quite a few things in the room. We are really happy with the finished result!"
BEFORE PHOTO of basket:
AFTER PHOTO of basket lamp:Chelsea describes the process of making the light fixture, "The "diaper change" light. I really wanted something other than the overhead fan light for late night diaper changes, feedings, etc. I was going to use a regular lamp-- until I saw this great idea here on Design Dazzle. I thought, "Hey! I can do that!" I got the beads from Michaels, they are wedding beads, on wire in long pieces. The basket and light kit from Pier 1 (I'm sure you can all find a cheaper one, but I was in a hurry- and those two stores were right next to each other!) I had to spray paint the basket white and then I got started! Using floral wire I tied pieces of beading to the basket vertically. Then at the end I got tired of the cutting and wiring the little pieces, so I twirled the last piece around the whole thing, well, I liked it, A LOT!! So I finished it off that way. My mistakes made it even cuter in my mind! To get the light kit in I had to chop away at the top of the basket to make a hole big enough for the plug to squeeze through, then I threaded the light through. When we hung it (with a hook from the ceiling) I stapled the cord to the wall to hold it flush, then painted over the cord the wall color. I love it. The light it reflects is a shimmer effect, so romantic. It turned out great!
It sure turned out beautiful! Thank you Chelsea for sharing with Design Dazzle.

Oh my gosh. ...isn't this room the best! Ashley McWhorter designed this room for her son Cash.
1. What gave you the idea for the room? Anything special that inspired you?
Many have asked why we chose the "vintage music/guitar" theme, and it really all started when I saw my husbands guitars sitting in our office one day. It just sort of came to me. I kept telling my mom that I had it all figured out in my head, but it just needed to come to life. Well, it did, and it is everything I dreamed it would be. I love it! It was so fun to decorate for a boy after being engulfed by pink, from two daughters, for over 4 years!I got this idea from a coffee shop in Tomball. We bought these albums at an Estate Sale for $1 a piece. Except for the Johnny Cash one...middle on the top. That was a very special gift from our sweet friend, Molly!
2. What are the paint colors? Any do-it-yourself projects?
Can't remember the exact names of the paint colors. All the projects you see were actually all do-it yourself. We bought the bumper from Pottery Barn and my mom made the bed skirt. I still want to add a big red tin star on the blank wall above the head of his bed.
We bought plain wooden letters and spray painted them red. My mom then came up with the cool idea to mount them on sheet music from a Johnny Cash song book. The pages were bright white, so we tea stained them literally in a bowl of tea. We stuck them in the microwave for a couple of seconds, and they dried right up.
The window valance was once again my mom's brilliant idea. We bought a shelf and broke the back off of it making what was supposed to be the top, the front. We spray painted it red (sensing a theme here?) and bought some old 45's at an antique store. The material has sheet music printed all over it. Once again, it was a bright white, so we tea stained it, as well. My mom just hot glued the fabric to the molding of the windows.
This was just a plain black lamp that we glued fringe on to. We painted the Ukulele, that was hot pink. We had bought it for the girls on one of our trips to Mexico.
Ashley, thank you for sharing you son's nursery with Design Dazzle. It's a unique and way-too-cute nursery!

Jodie Murphy designed this sweet serene lavender baby nursery. Jodie describes the room, "The room has soft lavender walls. The focal wall has hand painted stripes in a gloss finish. The furniture is from the Simply Shabby Chic collection. The bedding is lavender toile, with touches of gingham and polka dots. Throughout the nursery I used touches of cream and ivory. I also embellished the room with bunnies and birds to give it a cozy cottage feel. I wanted to achieve a sophisticated, serene atmosphere, yet one that was young and cheerful. The wall color is Brushed Lavender by Valspar. The decal was purchased through a website called mywalldecals.com. "
